CD Keys do not have the number "0" in them. They only have the capital letter "O". So anyplace that you see a 0 use the letter O instead.

You should reinstall the game from the original CD you received (or install file). Then re-run the patch.

Make sure that you have DirectX 7.0 or better installed on your machine.

Some video cards have trouble with graphics stored in video memory. When you start the game, select Setup. In the Setup window, click the Change button next to Video Memory Usage so that the value reads "Safe". This will make sure that all graphics are loaded into system memory and should clear up your problems.

The game defaults to having the maximum details possible. You can set these lower to increase your game performance. When you first run the game, select the Setup button. In the Setup window you can do the following:
Video Mode - Set your video mode to a lower screen resolution.
3D Device - Be sure that your 3D device is Direct3D and not software emulation.
Graphic Detail - Set this to Low.
Background Detail - Set this to Low.

Try the following:

1. Download the latest drivers for your video card.

2. Try different graphics settings under Setup from the Startup window.

3. Set your desktop resolution to 1024x768 and then set the game to run in this resolution as well.

4. Turn off music:
- a. Open the file SE5\Data\Settings.txt.
- b. Set the field "Allow Music" to FALSE.
- c. Save the file and run the game again.
- d. If this fixes the problem, then you should try downloading the latest drivers for your sound card. After installing them, try setting the field back to TRUE.

5. Turn off sound:
- a. Open the file SE5\Data\Settings.txt.
- b. Set the field "Allow Sound" to FALSE.
- c. Save the file and run the game again.
- d. If this fixes the problem, then you should try downloading the latest drivers for your sound card. After installing them, try setting the field back to TRUE.

6. If you continue to have problems, send an email to se5@malfador.com and include your complete system specifications and a detailed description of the problem your're having.

This is caused by old video drivers that are not compliant with DirectX 8 or DirectX 9. You should download and install the latest drivers for your video card.
